Easter Sunday
Then the same day at evening, the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
_John 20.19
It is the first day of the week, the first day of new creation. The work of doom is finished and new creation has now begun. The pain of Jesus has come to a glorious end and now our pain may see the same end. Where there was death, now there is life. Where there was darkness, now there is light. The Tomb is now opened to a magnificent garden; a paradise of peace, for Jesus, the suffering messiah, suffers no more. The sting of death has done its worst but Jesus stands alive in victory’s light. “Peace be unto you!” he calls, for the curse of struggle has seen its’ last day. Rise and celebrate. It is the first day of the week.
