A Prayer of Invocation

God of ever-expanding awareness,

Make us people of wonder––people who see your presence in unexpected places.

Give us the humility to unlearn the bigotry and violence that torments—the apathy and hatred that we have unwittingly consumed.

Teach us your audaciously hospitable wisdom,

and make us into your holy people, the church of Jesus Christ, that binds the broken and lifts the lowly.

For you, who have humbled yourself the be revealed in the meek and trampled, are indeed the Almighty God,

Lord of heaven and earth,

and we declare your sovereign lordship even here and even now.
