Eat Flesh and Drink Blood

"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me." John 6:54-57

When we open ourselves to the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ, Christ opens himself to us. When we consume and feast upon Christ we are in turned consumed. We opening ourselves to all that is Christ--to his mission, to his message, to his calling, to his people, and to his heart for the unloved--and we empty ourselves of the possessions, the sins, and the hatred that so often consumes us. Rather than being consumers of goods and merchandise we become, in Christ and with Christ in us, consumers of the one and holy body of Christ.

Take, eat... not only bread and wine but a whole new journey and a whole new life. Feast upon Christ and remember who he is... here and now. Open up and be opened, feast and be feasted upon, take the bread and offer your very life and soul.
