Last week the youth program I have been working with began the five week Willow Creek study program: Contagious Christian. It just so happens that this one of the very studies which I regret having gone through when I was in high school. The program means well but if it's taught the way it's supposed to be taught, students can end up very arrogant in the faith seeing "non-believers" as problems which need remedy rather than as people. There are so many presuppositions that go into classic styles of evangelism such as this, I don't even know where to begin. Needless to say, the next couple of weeks will probably prove to be very challenging for me. Should I keep my mouth shut? Are my opinions too strong? I just don't want these students to become the sort of Christian I used to be.
